Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

Short version: what you log stays on your phone. Afterform has no accounts, no ads, and sells nothing. The only things that can leave your phone are a few anonymous counts (you can turn them off), your email if you join the founding-member list on the website, and routine links you choose to share.

This policy covers the Afterform app for Android and iOS, and the Afterform website at afterform.abdulwasaylodhi.com (which is the same app running in your browser). Afterform is made by Abdul Wasay Lodhi. It is written to be readable by anyone aged 13 or over.

What stays on your device

Your workouts, routines, body weight, tape measurements, body-scan results, photos from a scan (if you keep them), year of birth, and settings are stored only on your phone (or in your browser's storage on the website). We do not have a copy and cannot see them. Afterform has no sign-up and no cloud account. If you erase the app's data or uninstall, it is gone unless you exported a backup. You can export a backup file at any time in Settings.

Your year of birth is asked once. It is used to estimate body fat and to decide which body views are offered. It never leaves the device.

Anonymous usage counts

Afterform sends simple counts to our server so we can see whether the app is being used and which versions are out there. Each count is one of four events: app opened, workout finished, scan added, routine shared. Each one carries only the date, the app version, the platform (android, ios or web) and a random install ID that the app generates for itself. The ID is not linked to your name, email, advertising ID or device identifiers. We never send weights, exercises, measurements, routines, photos or health data.

The counts are on by default. To turn them off, open Settings, Privacy, Anonymous usage counts. Turning it off stops all sending and clears anything waiting to be sent. The server keeps the counts to work out totals such as daily active installs.

Like any web server, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) sees your IP address when your device connects. We do not store IP addresses with the usage counts.

Founding-member email (website only)

On the website (not inside the app), you can join the founding-member list. If you do, we store the email address you type, the optional line about what you train for, and the date. We use it only to send you Afterform test builds and updates. To limit abuse, we also keep a one-way hash of your IP address for up to 24 hours; it cannot be turned back into your IP. We do not share or sell the list. Ask us to remove you at any time (see Deletion below).

Shared routines

When you share a routine, Afterform builds a link or QR code that contains the routine itself: exercise names, sets, reps and rest times. It does not include your weights, history, body data or name. The link is made on your device and nothing is uploaded to our server. Whoever you send it to (and any app you share it through, such as a messaging app) can read what is in it. Sharing is always your choice.

Health Connect (Android)

If you turn on Health Connect in Settings, Android asks you to allow Afterform to read these data types from Health Connect: steps, heart rate, resting heart rate, sleep, weight, body fat, active calories burned, and exercise sessions. You choose which to allow. Afterform never writes to or deletes anything in Health Connect.

This data never leaves your device. It is read by the app, kept in the app's local storage on your phone, and is not sent to our servers or to anyone else. It is not used for advertising, not sold, and not shared. Usage counts never include health data. Turning Health Connect off in Settings hands every permission back and clears what Afterform read. You can also remove access in the Health Connect app. Afterform's use of information received from Health Connect follows the Google Play User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Camera and the body scan

The camera is used for two things: scanning a routine QR code, and the camera/depth body scan. For the body scan, camera frames are processed on your phone to find your body outline and estimate measurements. Frames are never uploaded. They are held in memory during the scan and dropped afterwards. If you choose "Keep the two photos on this phone", the front and side photos are saved to your own gallery (Pictures/Afterform); otherwise they are discarded. The result of a scan is a set of estimated measurements stored on your device. The scan gives spoken cues using your phone's built-in text-to-speech.

The scan needs no account and works offline. On some phones it uses Google's ARCore if it is already installed; Afterform does not install it.

Notifications and other permissions

Afterform asks for notifications (the rest timer and workout controls on your lock screen), alarms and a foreground service (so the rest timer rings on time), vibration, and keeping the processor awake during a rest. These work on your phone only and send nothing anywhere.

Ads, selling, tracking

No ads. No advertising SDKs. No third-party analytics SDKs. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not track you across other apps or sites.

Children

Afterform is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you think a child under 13 has given us an email address, tell us and we will delete it.

Deletion and your choices

Email hello@abdulwasaylodhi.com with any deletion request or question. We aim to reply within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date above and, for a significant change, say so in the app.
